Bear Run Nature Reserve

Mindy and I took a quick ride this morning at Bear Run Nature Reserve. Most of my time here has been spent hiking. Finding good places to ride near Ohiopyle is hard, so we decided to give this little area a try. We started off from the parking lot and took the Wagon Trail to the Ridge Trail. The Wagon Trail if pretty short and offers some easy singletrack. Most of the Ridge Trail is double wide with loose rock sections. There was a good steady climb on Ridge Trail that seemed like it took forever. We took a left off of Ridge Trail and bombed down the tight, rocky Rhododendron Trail till it flattened out, hit Tree Trail on the way back to the truck and we had ourselves a decent 4 mile loop. I think the riding here is better then anything Ohiopyle State Park offers, and has less of a incline then Quebec Run. I would consider this loop if you are looking to explore this part of Southwest PA on a mountain bike.
